Tips That Promote an Ergonomic Office and Prevent Fatigue

Tiredness hinders productivity and can make the day drag.

Being tired at the office is an issue. Tiredness hinders productivity and can make the day drag. To avoid fatigue, you do need to get enough rest, stay active, eat healthily, and stay hydrated. However, your office space could be another reason behind the fatigue. Today we’re going to share some tips on how to promote an ergonomic office that will prevent fatigue and keep your energy high all day.

Change the Positioning of Your Body

Keeping the same posture for long periods could lead you to feel tired, unproductive, and unmotivated. Every hour, you should stand up, walk around, and do stretches that aren’t strenuous. Some office employees enjoy sitting down part of their shift and then standing up the other half. Standing desks and non-flat anti-fatigue mats are two ways to execute this.

Keep Good Neck and Head Posture

You can make sure that you have good posture by checking the position of your monitor. It should be in front of you and centered at eye level. If you use two monitors, make sure that you can see them both without having to strain your neck. Whether you are sitting down or standing up, your shoulders should be relaxed. Also, if your job involves talking on the phone a lot, try to do it hands-free.

Take Away the Tension on Your Eyes

To relax your eyes, remember to blink regularly. Close your eyes occasionally to avoid strain. Follow the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, you can take a 20-second break from staring at your monitor. While you do this, look at something that’s far away, at least 20 feet away. Also, make sure that your computer doesn’t have a color scheme or contrast that puts a strain on your eyes. Adequately lighting the entire office space helps as well.

Don’t Slouch

You should sit upright with your hips as far back as they can go in your chair. Your seating you properly support your entire back. Let the way that you sit in your chair guide your posture. Keep your elbows close to you and make sure that as you type, your arms stretch outright and are parallel to the floor.

These are all minor, but significant ways that you can promote an ergonomic office and avoid fatigue. You do spend more time in the office than you do at home. So, follow these tips and keep your energy at an all-time high.
