Office Design Mark Downs Discount Furniture

Proper office design is so essential.

Proper office design is so essential. Whether you’re working from home or you’re back to being in the office, designing an office the right way does a lot. What it does is enhance productivity, takes the strain off the body, and creates a visually-appealing office so that employees are motivated to work. At Mark Downs, we offer stylish and ergonomic office furniture that benefits many industries. If you’re looking to take your work or home office to the next level, you can count on us to provide the affordable office furniture you need. In the meantime, here are three avoidable office design mistakes. Avoid these mistakes, and you’ll have the perfect office space.

Uninspiring Office Design

A public office space should be professional, but it doesn’t have to be boring. You can do limitless things with decor. If you’re working from the privacy of your home, you can have a little more fun, of course. Still, make sure that your office space motivates you to be productive and comfortable enough to take on an eight hour (or longer) day. Try to avoid blank white walls. In a public office, incorporating colors help with brand identity and says a lot about your company culture and can inspire employees. Adding colors helps to invite, motivate, and make your office space, well, feel like home in a home setting.

Not Having Adequate Lighting

When you strain your eyes, it can cause headaches. When you spend so much time looking at a computer screen, you need to make things less stressful on your eyes. For one, we recommend that you take mini-breaks away from the computer screen now and then. Two, make sure that you have adequate lighting, so you don’t hurt your eyes. Letting in natural light is also an excellent idea. Fluorescent lights can cause migraines, so avoid those. Again, try adding in different types of lighting for variety throughout an office.

Not Designing Your Reception Area

The reception area is the first area that’s going to catch the eyes of visitors. Because first impressions mean everything, you never want to neglect the reception area. Also, because the pandemic is not over, make sure to use workplace protection products such as counter shields, desk, and panel protection, and have a sanitizer station in this location.
