Tips on How to Decorate Your Office for the Holidays

Decorate your office in a way that says “Happy Holidays”

If you decide to decorate your office this holiday season, then you’ve got an exciting but challenging task on your hands. You may feel the inclination to go all out on the glitter and sparkles, but you still want your business to look professional. On the other hand, too few decorations could make the office space look bland and void. Here are some tips on how to decorate your office for the holidays so that you can bring the holiday spirit into the workplace!

Add Natural Elements to the Office

Plants synonymous with winter are fir, pine, and holly. They make for beautiful, ornamental decorations. You can place poinsettias or tiny potted pine trees on the desks in communal spaces such as the lobby or reception area. A plethora of white flowers, in combination with pine or holly and bows, scream “holiday time!”

Bring in Sweet Treats

Show your employees that you care by feeding them delicious food. Think cookies and brownies. You can add a little friendly competition to the workplace by having a gingerbread house contest or a variation of the sort. If you wish to promote a healthy workplace, consider bringing in seasonal fruit bowls into the office.

Light up Your Office Space

Winter is a season that often alters the moods of a lot of people. It’s a colder season. There’s less daylight. Therefore, you can help lighten the spirits of your employees by bringing light into the office. You can place a string of white lights along the walls or colorful lights. Here are a few safety tips:

  • Never leave the lighting unattended.
  • Make sure the lights are not a distraction (for example, flickering lights)
  • Don’t overload outlets or power cords
  • Candles in an office setting are too risky

Give Back

This tip isn’t an office decorating tip, but it is a way to enhance your company’s culture. Hosting a food drive or promoting your employees to participate in a great cause such as Toys for Tots shows that giving back matters to you. When an employee works for a company that gives back, boosts their morale.
