A Guide on Reception Counters

Look at this beautiful Cherryman reception desk

Here at Mark Downs, we provide office furniture for multiple industries and stress the importance of a well-designed reception area. Reception counters, believe it or not, sell your business without you even saying a word. When clients and customers walk into a warm, inviting, and well-designed reception area, then it adds to your credibility. High-quality office design shows that you’re professional and that you care. There are two main components to a reception area: seating and the reception counter. Today, we’ll focus on reception counters. Keep reading!

Consider The Size of The Reception Counter

If your waiting room area is small, then we suggest going for a compact waiting room desk that only allows one person to utilize it at a time. If you’re working with ample space, then a large reception counter works here. A large reception counter in an area that’s too small will overwhelm the space. One golden room regarding office design is that you always want the space to look proportionate.

Consider What Shape Will Best Benefit Your Reception Area

We offer reception counters that come in varying shapes and sizes. Here’s a list:

  1. Single Surface – This option is ideal because there’s a single surface where clients or patients can use to write on. These desks come curved or straight and are suitable for both small and large spaces, especially when it comes to restaurants.
  2. L-Shaped: Although this type of counter does come in many sizes, it’s excellent for one receptionist to use it at a time. It gives one receptionist enough room to work solo.
  3. U-Shaped: These desks typically have a third surface to them. They come with curved or straight edges that are ideal for more than one receptionist to work at a time. If your waiting room is large, then this is the way to go.
  4. Round: Round reception counters are round or circular and best for larger waiting areas. Placing them in the middle of a reception area gives the room an open floor layout and will make your receptionist the center of attention. In smaller waiting areas, they tend to take up too much space.
